Mary was just 8 years old when staff at Hope Community Centre in Naivasha, Kenya, found her living by herself on the streets. Today she loves going to school and hopes to become a nurse when she is older.


Specialist care for disabled children in Romania

7 year old Desiree lives in a small village just outside Curtea de Arges in central Romania and is one of 60 children currently attending Hand Rom, a WER-supported school which provides care and education for children who have a range of disabilities including cerebral palsy, polio and muscular dystrophy.


Bringing hope to disadvantaged children in Guatemala

Linda Morales is 22 years old and lives in a poor neighbourhood in Guatemala City with her parents and her two younger sisters. When she was just 8 years old, she joined the Fotokids Foundation where she learnt how to use a camera. In recent years she has represented Guatemala at the Latin American Photography Festival in Paris and, as one of the Fotokids Foundation’s teachers, is today dedicating herself to building a brighter future for Guatemala’s children.
