Humla is one of the remotest regions in northwest Nepal and health education and medical services are limited. WER, in partnership with World Response & CITTA, has provided training for women in basic hygiene and reproductive health. Many women have not gained access to basic education, and the healthcare training they are receiving is vital for the well-being of the family. This training has also helped address the issue of HIV/AIDS, discussion of which is largely taboo in Nepalese society.
As well as training, women are gaining access to medical services and are being treated in a local clinic provided by the project.
