In May 2004 the Dominican Republic suffered the loss of hundreds of lives because of severe flooding. The area most affected was Jimani, 8 hours drive away from where the IJ project is based. IJ staff and Trustees in partnership with WER were quick to respond, providing emergency relief supplies to local communities affected.
WER shipped 300 boxes of relief supplies to be distributed to those affected by the floods. WER also sent an emergency grant of £6,000.
