WER supports a feeding programme for severely malnourished children whose parents are suffering from HIV/AIDS. 85 children have benefited from supplementary nutrition in 2006.
People living with HIV/AIDS are often unable to support their children because they are no longer capable of working to generate income for their living. In partnership with ARM Rwanda, WER is funding a feeding programme for children who are critically ill because of a lack of food. Funds provided are used to purchase food as well as employing cooks and a nutritionist to advise on the children’s diet. This project takes place at ARM Rwanda’s HIV/AIDS centre, where the children’s parents gain medical care, advice and support.
