The Arba Minch Primary School was established in response to parents’ requests that better quality education be made available to their young children. The majoritry of children attending the school have come from local kindergartens, three of which are Montessori schools. Eight classrooms have been built and are catering for 320 children, from grades 1 to 4.
Teachers at the primary school are encouraged to attend a local teacher training college with the aim of upgrading their skills and learning alternative classroom practices. The school also plans to set-up a sponsorship scheme so that children from especially poor families are not excluded from the benefits of primary education.
Working with our partner, the Kale Heywet Church, WER is committed to ensuring that young children receive the best possible start in life.
