The Acces programme works with children who have abandoned the schooling system or who have been expelled from school. For many of these children, difficulties within their family are at the root of problems which they are facing at school.
Approximately 20 children, between the ages of 9 and 16, come to the centre on a daily basis where they can benefit from counselling sessions and are encouraged to engage in a range of activities, including artwork and computers. Homework sessions assist the children with focussing on school work and preparing for school tests.
Curtea de Arges is just one area of Romania where poverty and social problems have led to a large number of young people abandoning the schooling system. The Acces programme is currently helping some of these young people to address the issues which have led them to give up school and to face up to a more positive and promising future.
